New, cutting-edge as well as established treatments for the enhancement, rejuvenation and age management of the face are available at York Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Center. Sarah W. Holland, MD performs comprehensive surgical and non-surgical procedures including rhinoplasty (nose surgery), facelift (rhytidectomy), eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), forehead lift (brow lift), and injectibles. Candidates for these procedures are adults in general good health and who are non-smokers. A consultation with Dr. Holland prior to these procedures provides you with the opportunity to learn what to expect before, during and after your surgery or treatment, from preparation to healing.
Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)
Rhinoplasty is designed to permanently improve the appearance of the nose (cosmetic) or to improve breathing function for an obstructed airway. Cosmetic surgery of the nose addresses nose size, width, profile, tip, asymmetry and nostrils that are large, wide or upturned. This surgery may be performed in conjunction with placement of facial implants or other procedures to achieve overall facial harmony.
Forehead Lift (Brow Lift)
A brow lift is a surgical procedure used to improve the appearance of the facial region between the upper eyelids and the scalp, extending to the temples. The procedure is used to improve the low placement or sagging of the brows, and minimizes appearance of lines and creases in the forehead. These conditions may be due to heredity or can be attributed to the natural aging process and repeated facial expressions. Limited incisions are hidden in the hairline or through a single incision in the natural crease of each upper eyelid.
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
Cosmetic eyelid surgery is known as blepheroplasty and is used to improve the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. This surgery can treat loose or sagging skin which can sometimes impair vision, excess fatty deposits, bags under the eyes, droopiness of eyelids, and excess skin and wrinkles of the lower lid.
Rhytidectomy (Facelift)
A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is used to improve the visible signs of aging in the face and neck. Sagging in the midface can create deep creases that make you appear tired and sad, especially around the lower eyelid and the area between the nose and mouth (nasolabial fold). Fat that has fallen or is displaced and loss of muscle tone in the lower face may create jowls, and loose skn and excess fatty deposits under the chin and jaw can make even a person of normal weight appear to have a double chin. A facelift can correct all of these and restore a more youthful, rested appearance with uplifted contours and improved facial tone.
All non-surgical techniques are temporary and duration of treatment varies by individual and the amount used.
Botox®
Botox works by inhibiting the action of the muscles that create expression lines. A purified protein, Botox is an injectable designed to soften and reduce wrinkling of frown lines between the eyebrows, forehead furrows or creases, crow’s feet that develop at the outer eye area and for cords in the neck. Treatments generally last for three to six months. For additional information, please visit the Botox® site.
Juvederm™
This smooth gel filler instantly fills and smoftens wrinkles and fold along the sides of the nose and mouth, vertical lip lines, and marionette lines. Treatments generally last 6 months. For additional information, please visit the Juvéderm™ site.
Radiesse®
This injectable uses a compound to trigger the body into producing its own collagen, a naturally-occurring protein in human skin that acts as the building block of our skin. Collagen diminishes with age, and assault from smoking, sun exposure and pollution. Radiesse rebuilds the collagen gradually, resulting in reduced nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and enhancing fullness to cheeks and other facial contours. Radiesse lasts two years or longer. For additional information, please visit the Radiesse site.
